Vehbi Görgülü presented his paper in Lisbon, Portugal

Vehbi Görgülü (Assistant Professor at Department of Communication Design and Management, Public Relations Program) presented his paper titled “Not that glam: Marketing in DIY fashion and #TFWGucci meme campaign” at the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies (CMCS) 7th International Conference themed on “Bridging Gaps: Where is Ethical Glamour in Celebrity Culture?” on July 3, 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The event, which took place between July 1-3, 2018, was organized by the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies (CMCS) in association with the Centre for Ecological, Social, and Informatics Cognitive Research (ESI.CORE).

The paper analyzed how Internet memes, as a low budget but a potentially impactful marketing strategy, was succesfully employed by a luxury brand company, despite controversies. Proceedings of the conference will be published as a collection by WaterHill Publishing.
